Statutory Approvals

Apart from FSI consumption check, correct “Light & Ventilation” is the main motto of municipal authorities. Other than planning permission, the main statutory approval that will be required on a building project is building regulations approval. The Department for Communities and Local Government is responsible for building regulations, which exist to ensure the health and safety of people in and around buildings, and the energy efficiency of buildings.

Building regulations approvals can be sought either from the building control department of the local authority or from an approved inspector.
